But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah's Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him? So we asked Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), and he said: It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported that mention was made of 'azl in the presence of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) whereupon he said: Why do you practise it? They said: There is a man whose wife has to suckle the child, and if that person has a sexual intercourse with her (she may conceive) which he does not like, and there is another person who has a slave-girl and he has a sexual intercourse with her, but he does not like her to have conception so that she may not become Umm Walad, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: There is no harm if you do not do that, for that (the birth of the child) is something pre- ordained. Ibn 'Aun said: I made a mention of this hadith to Hasan, and he said: By Allah, (it seems) as if there is upbraiding in it (for 'azl). Sahih Muslim Book 8 Number 3377

Abu Said al-Khudri said, 'We went out with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the expedition to the Banu al-Mustaliq. We took some Arabs prisoner, and we desired the women as celibacy was hard for us. We wanted the ransom, so we wanted to practise coitus interruptus. We said, 'Shall we practise coitus interruptus while the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is among us before we ask him?' We asked him about that and he said, 'You don't have to not do it. There is no self which is to come into existence up to the Day of Rising but that it will come into existence.' Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent a military expedition to Awtas on the occasion of the battle of Hunain. They met their enemy and fought with them. Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, send down the Qur'anic verse: "And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hand possess."[Surah 4:24] ...Sunan Abu Dawud, Book V, Chapter 711, Number 2150

They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their combs will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their centers. Their wives will be houris. All of them will look alike and will resemble their father Adam (in statute), sixty cubits tall." Bukhari, volume 4, #544.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saw a woman who charmed him, so he went to Sawdah who was making perfume in the company of some women. They left him, and after he had satisfied his desirehe said, "If any man sees a woman who charms him he should go to his wife, for she has the same kind of thing as the other woman."

Narrated Aisha:

Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 234)
Narrated Hisham's father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 236)
Narrated 'Aisha:
Allah's Apostle said to me, "You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, 'Uncover (her),' and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' Then you were shown to me, the angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said (to him), 'Uncover (her), and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.'" (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 87, Number 140; see also Number 139)
Narrated 'Aisha:
that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death). (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64; see also Numbers 65 and 88)

O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them when they have reached their period. Count the period, and fear God your Lord. Thou knowest not, perchance after that God will bring something new to pass… As for your women who have despaired of further menstruating, if you are in doubt, their period shall be three months;and those who have not menstruated as yet. And those who are with child, their term is when they bring forth their burden. Whoso fears God, God will appoint for him, of His command, easiness. S. 65:1, 4

It is possible that, if he divorces you, his Lord will give him in exchange wives better than you, women who have surrendered, believing, obedient, penitent, devout, given to fasting, who have been married and virgins too."

Mohammed married (married is the word in the text) Mulaykah bint Dawud al-Laythiyyah, but when she was told that Mohammed was the one who had her father killed, she took refuge in Allah from Mohammed. So Mohammed separated from her. al-Tabari vol.8 p.189. The same thing is told of Mulaykah bint Ka’b (who is likely the same person) in al-Tabari vol.39 p.165
Mulaykah bint Ka’b was married very briefly to Mohammed. A’isha asked her if she wanted to marry the man who killed her husband. She "took refuge in God" from Mohammed, so Mohammed divorced her. al-Tabari vol.39 p.165

1) Umm Hani’ bin Abi Talib [Hind] because she said she was with child.
2) Duba’ah bint ‘Amir but she was too old.
3) Reportedly he proposed to Saffiyah bint Bashshamah, a captive. She was allowed to choose between Mohammed and her husband, and she chose her husband.
4) Umm Habib bint al-‘Abbas but since al-‘Abbas was his foster brother so it would not have been lawful so Mohammed backed out.
5) Jamrah bint Al-Harith. Her father falsely claimed she was suffering from something. When he returned, he found that she had already been afflicted with leprosy.

Sauda (the wife of the Prophet) went out to answer the call of nature after it was made obligatory (for all the Muslims ladies) to observe the veil. By Allah, you cannot hide yourself from us, so think of a way by which you should not be recognized on going out. Sauda returned while Allah's Apostle was in my house taking his supper and a bone covered with meat was in his hand. She entered and said, "O Allah’s Apostle! I went out to answer the call of nature and 'Umar said to me so-and-so." Then Allah inspired him (the Prophet) and when the state of inspiration was over and the bone was still in his hand as he had not put in down, he said (to Sauda), "You (women) have been allowed to go out for your needs." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 318)

But Sauda bint Zam’a gave up her (turn) day and night to ‘Aisha, the wife of the Prophet in order to seek the pleasure of Allah's Apostle (by that action). ‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Never did I find any woman more loving to me than Sauda bint Zam'a. I wished I could be exactly like her who was passionate. As she became old, she had made over her day (which she had to spend) with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) to ‘A’isha. She said: I have made over my day with you to ‘A’isha. So Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) allotted two days to ‘A’isha, her own day (when it was her turn) and that of Sauda. (Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3451)

O you who believe! when you marry the believing women, then divorce them before you touch them, you have in their case no term which you should reckon; so make some provision for them and send them forth a goodly sending forth. S. 33:49 Shakir
O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them when they have reached their period. Count the period, and fear God your Lord. Do not expel them from their houses, nor let them go forth, except when they commit a flagrant indecency. Those are God's bounds; whosoever trespasses the bounds of God has done wrong to himself. Thou knowest not, perchance after that God will bring something new to pass. S. 65:1 Arberry

I had been eager to ask ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab about the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet regarding whom Allah said ‘If you two (wives of the Prophet namely Aisha and Hafsa) turn in repentance to Allah, your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet likes). (66.4) till ‘Umar performed the Hajj and I too, performed the Hajj along with him. (On the way) ‘Umar went aside to answer the call of nature, and I also went aside along with him carrying a tumbler full of water, and when ‘Umar had finished answering the call of nature, I poured water over his hands and he performed the ablution. Then I said to him, "O chief of the Believers! Who were the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet regarding whom Allah said: ‘If you two (wives of the Prophet) turn in repentance to Allah your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet likes)?" (66.4) He said, "I am astonished at your question, O Ibn Abbas. They were ‘Aisha and Hafsa." Then ‘Umar went on narrating the hadith and said, "I and an Ansari neighbor of mine from Bani Umaiyya bin Zaid who used to live in Awali-al-Medina, used to visit the Prophet in turns. He used to go one day and I another day. When I went, I would bring him the news of what had happened that day regarding the Divine Inspiration and other things, and when he went, he used to do the same for me. We, the people of Quraish used to have the upper hand over our wives, but when we came to the Ansar, we found that their women had the upper hand over their men, so our women also started learning the ways of the Ansari women.
I shouted at my wife and she retorted against me and I disliked that she should answer me back. She said to me, ‘Why are you so surprised at my answering you back? By Allah, the wives of the Prophet answer him back and some of them may leave (does not speak to) him throughout the day till the night.’ The (talk) scared me and I said to her, ‘Whoever has done so will be ruined!’ Then I proceeded after dressing myself, and entered upon Hafsa and said to her, ‘Does anyone of you keep the Prophet angry till night?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘You are a ruined losing person! Don't you fear that Allah may get angry for the anger of Allah’s Apostle and thus you will be ruined? So do not ask more from the Prophet and do not answer him back and do not give up talking to him. Ask me whatever you need and do not be tempted to imitate your neighbor (i.e., ‘Aisha) in her manners for she is more charming than you and more beloved to the Prophet.’" Umar added, "At that time a talk was circulating among us that (the tribe of) Ghassan were preparing their horses to invade us. My Ansari companion, on the day of his turn, went (to the town) and returned to us at night and knocked at my door violently and asked if I was there. I became horrified and came out to him. He said, ‘Today a great thing has happened.’ I asked, ‘What is it? Have (the people of) Ghassan come?’ He said, ‘No, but (What has happened) is greater and more horrifying than that: Allah’s Apostle; has divorced his wives.’" ‘Umar added, "The Prophet kept away from his wives and I said ‘Hafsa is a ruined loser.’ I had already thought that most probably this (divorce) would happen in the near future. So I dressed myself and offered the morning prayer with the Prophet and then the Prophet entered an upper room and stayed there in seclusion. I entered upon Hafsa and saw her weeping. I asked, ‘What makes you weep? Did I not warn you about that? Did the Prophet divorce you all?’ She said, ‘I do not know. There he is retired alone in the upper room.’ I came out and sat near the pulpit and saw a group of people sitting around it and some of them were weeping. I sat with them for a while but could not endure the situation, so I went to the upper room where the Prophet was and said to a black slave of his, ‘Will you get the permission (of the Prophet) for ‘Umar (to enter)?’ The slave went in, talked to the Prophet about it and then returned saying, ‘I have spoken to the Prophet and mentioned you but he kept quiet.’ Then I returned and sat with the group of people sitting near the pulpit. But I could not bear the situation and once again I said to the slave, ‘Will you get the permission for ‘Umar?’ He went in and returned saying, ‘I mentioned you to him but he kept quiet.’ So I returned again and sat with the group of people sitting near the pulpit, but I could not bear the situation, and so I went to the slave and said, ‘Will you get the permission for ‘Umar?’ He went in and returned to me saying, ‘I mentioned you to him but he kept quiet.’ When I was leaving, behold! The slave called me, saying, ‘The Prophet has given you permission.’
Then I entered upon Allah’s Apostle and saw him lying on a bed made of stalks of date palm leaves and there was no bedding between it and him. The stalks left marks on his side and he was leaning on a leather pillow stuffed with date-palm fires. I greeted him and while still standing I said, ‘O Allah's Apostle! Have you divorced your wives?’ He looked at me and said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Allah Akbar!’ And then, while still standing, I said chatting, ‘Will you heed what I say, O Allah’s Apostle? We, the people of Quraish used to have power over our women, but when we arrived at Medina we found that the men (here) were overpowered by their women.’ The Prophet smiled and then I said to him, ‘Will you heed what I say, O Allah’s Apostle? I entered upon Hafsa and said to her, "Do not be tempted to imitate your companion (‘Aisha), for she is more charming than you and more beloved to the Prophet."’ The Prophet smiled for a second time. When I saw him smiling, I sat down. Then I looked around his house, and by Allah, I could not see anything of importance in his house except three hides, so I said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! Invoke Allah to make your followers rich, for the Persians and the Romans have been made prosperous and they have been given (the pleasures of the world), although they do not worship Allah.’ Thereupon the Prophet sat up as he was reclining and said, ‘Are you of such an opinion, O the son of Al-Khattab? These are the people who have received the rewards for their good deeds in this world.’ I said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! Ask Allah to forgive me.’
Then the Prophet kept away from his wives for twenty-nine days because of the story which Hafsa had disclosed to ‘Aisha. The Prophet had said, ‘I will not enter upon them (my wives) for one month,’ because of his anger towards them, when Allah had admonished him. So, when twenty nine days had passed, the Prophet first entered upon ‘Aisha. ‘Aisha said to him, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! You had sworn that you would not enter upon us for one month, but now only twenty-nine days have passed, for I have been counting them one by one.’ The Prophet said, ‘The (present) month is of twenty nine days.’ ‘Aisha added, ‘Then Allah revealed the Verses of the option. And out of all his wives he asked me first, and I chose him.’ Then he gave option to his other wives and they said what 'Aisha had said."
(1) The Prophet had decided to abstain from eating a certain kind of food because of a certain event, so Allah blamed him for doing so. Some of his wives were the cause of him taking that decision, therefore he deserted them for one month. See Quran: (66.4) (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 119)

When he entered upon one of us, she said that to him. He replied (to her), "No, but I have drunk honey in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, and I will never drink it again." Then the following verse was revealed: ‘O Prophet! Why do you ban (for you) that which Allah has made lawful for you?… (up to) If you two (wives of the Prophet turn in repentance to Allah.’ (66.1-4) The two were ‘Aisha and Hafsa And also the Statement of Allah: ‘And (Remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives!" (66.3) i.e., his saying, "But I have drunk honey." Hisham said: It also meant his saying, "I will not drink anymore, and I have taken an oath, so do not inform anybody of that." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 78, Number 682)

They will not urinate, relieve nature, spit, or have any nasal secretions. Their combs will be of gold, and their sweat will smell like musk. The aloes-wood will be used in their centers. Their wives will be houris. All of them will look alike and will resemble their father Adam (in statute), sixty cubits tall."

Muhammad reported that some (persons) stated with a sense of pride and some discussed whether there would be MORE MEN IN PARADISE OR MORE WOMEN. It was upon this that Abu Huraira reported that Abu'l Qasim (the Holy Prophet) (may peace be upon him) said: The (members) of the first group to get into Paradise would have their faces as bright as full moon during the night, and the next to this group would have their faces as bright as the shining stars in the sky,AND EVERY PERSON WOULD HAVE TWO WIVES and the marrow of their shanks would glimmer beneath the flesh and THERE WOULD BE NONE WITHOUT A WIFE IN PARADISE. (Sahih Muslim, Book 040, Number 6793; see also 6797)

Rifaa wanted to marry her again and it was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he forbade him to marry her. I, therefore, uncovered both of my thighs. Then he put his cheek and chest on my thighs and I lent upon he until he became warm and slept.

'Aisha said, "I scented Allah's Apostle and he went round (had sexual intercourse with) all his wives, and in the morning he was Muhrim (after taking a bath)."

We asked (him) about it and he said, 'It is better for you not to do so, for if any soul (till the Day of Resurrection) is predestined to exist, it will exist."

Zayd ibn Thabit said, "Give an opinion, Hajjaj!" "I said, 'May Allah forgive you! We sit with you in order to learn from you!' He said, 'Give an opinion! 'I said, 'She is your field, if you wish, water it, and if you wish, leave it thirsty. I heard that from Zayd.' Zayd said, 'He has spoken the truth.' "

It has been narrated on the authority of Salama (b. al-Akwa') who said: We fought against the Fazara and Abu Bakr was the commander over us. He had been appointed by the Messenger oi Allah (may peace be upon him). When we were onlv at an hour's distance from the water of the enemy, Abu Bakr ordered us to attack. We made a halt during the last part of the night tor rest and then we attacked from all sides and reached their watering-place where a battle was fought. Some of the enemies were killed and some were taken prisoners. I saw a group of persons that consisted of women and children. I was afraid lest they should reach the mountain before me, so I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow, they stopped. So I brought them, driving them along. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara. She was wearing a leather coat. With her was her daughter who was one of the prettiest girls in Arabia. I drove them along until I brought them to Abu Bakr who bestowed that girl upon me as a prize. So we arrived in Medina. I had not yet disrobed her when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) met me in the street and said: Give me that girl, O Salama. I said: Messenger of Allah, she has fascinated me. I had not yet disrobed her. When on the next day. the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) ag;tin met me in the street, he said: O Salama, give me that girl, may God bless your father. I said: She is for you. Messenger of Allah! By Allah. I have not yet disrobed her. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent her to the people of Mecca, and surrendered her as ransom for a number of Muslims who had been kept as prisoners at Mecca.

The Prophet raised his hand to pat her so that she might become tranquil. She said, "I seek refuge with Allah from you." He said, "You have sought refuge with One Who gives refuge. Then the Prophet came out to us and said, "O Abu Usaid! Give her two white linen dresses to wear and let her go back to her family." Narrated Sahl and Abu Usaid: The Prophet married Umaima bint Sharahil, and when she was brought to him, he stretched his hand towards her. It seemed that she disliked that, whereupon the Prophet ordered Abu Usaid to prepare her and to provide her with two white linen dresses. (See Hadith No. 541).

I had been eager to ask 'Umar about the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet regarding whom Allah said (in the Qur'an saying): If you two (wives of the Prophet namely Aisha and Hafsa) turn in repentance to Allah your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet likes) (66.4), till performed the Hajj along with 'Umar (and on our way back from Hajj) he went aside (to answer the call of nature) and I also went aside along with him carrying a tumbler of water. When he had answered the call of nature and returned. I poured water on his hands from the tumbler and he performed ablution. I said, "O Chief of the believers! ' Who were the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet to whom Allah said:
'If you two return in repentance (66.4)? He said, "I am astonished at your question, O Ibn 'Abbas. They were Aisha and Hafsa."
Then 'Umar went on relating the narration and said. "I and an Ansari neighbor of mine from Bani Umaiya bin Zaid who used to live in 'Awali Al-Medina, used to visit the Prophet in turns. He used to go one day, and I another day. When I went I would bring him the news of what had happened that day regarding the instructions and orders and when he went, he used to do the same for me. We, the people of Quraish, used to have authority over women, but when we came to live with the Ansar, we noticed that the Ansari women had the upper hand over their men, so our women started acquiring the habits of the Ansari women. Once I shouted at my wife and she paid me back in my coin and I disliked that she should answer me back. She said, 'Why do you take it ill that I retort upon you? By Allah, the wives of the Prophet retort upon him, and some of them may not speak with him for the whole day till night.' What she said scared me and I said to her, 'Whoever amongst them does so, will be a great loser.' Then I dressed myself and went to Hafsa and asked her, 'Does any of you keep Allah's Apostle angry all the day long till night?' She replied in the affirmative. I said, 'She is a ruined losing person (and will never have success)! Doesn't she fear that Allah may get angry for the anger of Allah's Apostle and thus she will be ruined? Don't ask Allah's Apostle too many things, and don't retort upon him in any case, and don't desert him. Demand from me whatever you like, and don't be tempted to imitate your neighbor (i.e. 'Aisha) in her behavior towards the Prophet), for she (i.e. Aisha) is more beautiful than you, and more beloved to Allah's Apostle.
In those days it was rumored that Ghassan, (a tribe living in Sham) was getting prepared their horses to invade us. My companion went (to the Prophet on the day of his turn, went and returned to us at night and knocked at my door violently, asking whether I was sleeping. I was scared (by the hard knocking) and came out to him. He said that a great thing had happened. I asked him: What is it? Have Ghassan come? He replied that it was worse and more serious than that, and added that Allah's Apostle had divorced all his wives. I said, Hafsa is a ruined loser! I expected that would happen some day.' So I dressed myself and offered the Fajr prayer with the Prophet. Then the Prophet entered an upper room and stayed there alone. I went to Hafsa and found her weeping. I asked her, 'Why are you weeping? Didn't I warn you? Have Allah's Apostle divorced you all?' She replied, 'I don't know. He is there in the upper room.' I then went out and came to the pulpit and found a group of people around it and some of them were weeping. Then I sat with them for some time, but could not endure the situation. So I went to the upper room where the Prophet was and requested to a black slave of his: "Will you get the permission of (Allah's Apostle) for Umar (to enter)? The slave went in, talked to the Prophet about it and came out saying, 'I mentioned you to him but he did not reply.' So, I went and sat with the people who were sitting by the pulpit, but I could not bear the situation, so I went to the slave again and said: "Will you get he permission for Umar? He went in and brought the same reply as before. When I was leaving, behold, the slave called me saying, "Allah's Apostle has granted you permission." So, I entered upon the Prophet and saw him lying on a mat without wedding on it, and the mat had left its mark on the body of the Prophet, and he was leaning on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fires. I greeted him and while still standing, I said: "Have you divorced your wives?' He raised his eyes to me and replied in the negative. And then while still standing, I said chatting: "Will you heed what I say, 'O Allah's Apostle! We, the people of Quraish used to have the upper hand over our women (wives), and when we came to the people whose women had the upper hand over them..."
'Umar told the whole story (about his wife). "On that the Prophet smiled." 'Umar further said, "I then said, 'I went to Hafsa and said to her: Do not be tempted to imitate your companion ('Aisha) for she is more beautiful than you and more beloved to the Prophet.' The Prophet smiled again. When I saw him smiling, I sat down and cast a glance at the room, and by Allah, I couldn't see anything of importance but three hides. I said (to Allah's Apostle) "Invoke Allah to make your followers prosperous for the Persians and the Byzantines have been made prosperous and given worldly luxuries, though they do not worship Allah?' The Prophet was leaning then (and on hearing my speech he sat straight) and said, 'O Ibn Al-Khatttab! Do you have any doubt (that the Hereafter is better than this world)? These people have been given rewards of their good deeds in this world only.' I asked the Prophet . 'Please ask Allah's forgiveness for me. The Prophet did not go to his wives because of the secret which Hafsa had disclosed to 'Aisha, and he said that he would not go to his wives for one month as he was angry with them when Allah admonished him (for his oath that he would not approach Maria). When twenty-nine days had passed, the Prophet went to Aisha first of all. She said to him, 'You took an oath that you would not come to us for one month, and today only twenty-nine days have passed, as I have been counting them day by day.' The Prophet said, 'The month is also of twenty-nine days.' That month consisted of twenty-nine days. 'Aisha said, 'When the Divine revelation of Choice was revealed, the Prophet started with me, saying to me, 'I am telling you something, but you needn't hurry to give the reply till you can consult your parents." 'Aisha knew that her parents would not advise her to part with the Prophet . The Prophet said that Allah had said:--
'O Prophet! Say To your wives; If you desire The life of this world And its glitter, ... then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free In a handsome manner. But if you seek Allah And His Apostle, and The Home of the Hereafter, then Verily, Allah has prepared For the good-doers amongst you A great reward.' (33.28) 'Aisha said, 'Am I to consult my parents about this? I indeed prefer Allah, His Apostle, and the Home of the Hereafter.' After that the Prophet gave the choice to his other wives and they also gave the same reply as 'Aisha did."

When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them . . .' (60.10) So if anyone of those believing women accepted the above mentioned conditions, she accepted the conditions of faith. When they agreed on those conditions and confessed that with their tongues, Allah's Apostle would say to them, "Go, I have accepted your oath of allegiance (for Islam). By Allah, and hand of Allah's Apostle never touched the hand of any woman, but he only used to take their pledge of allegiance orally. By Allah, Allah's Apostle did not take the pledge of allegiance of the women except in accordance with what Allah had ordered him. When he accepted their pledge of allegiance he would say to them, "I have accepted your oath of allegiance."
Volume 9, Book 89, Number 321:
Narrated 'Aisha:
The Prophet used to take the Pledge of allegiance from the women by words only after reciting this Holy Verse:--(60.12) "..that they will not associate anything in worship with Allah." (60.12) And the hand of Allah's Apostle did not touch any woman's hand except the hand of that woman his right hand possessed.(i.e. his captives or his lady slaves).
Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 87, Number 130:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Apostle used to visit Um Haram bint Milhan she was the wife of 'Ubada bin As-Samit. One day the Prophet visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah's Apostle slept and afterwards woke up smiling.

There was an altercation between the two until their voices became loud (and it was at that time) when Iqama was pronounced for prayer. There happened to come Abu Bakr and he heard their voices and said: Messenger of Allah, (kindly) come for prayer, and throw dust in their mouths. So the Prophet (may peace be upon him) went out.

So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing 'azl (Withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid-conception). But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah's Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him? So we asked Allah's Mes- senger (may peace be upon him), and he said: It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born.
SAHIH MUSLIM, Book 008, Number 3373:
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported: We took women captives, and we wanted to do 'azl with them. We then asked Allah's Messen- ger (may peace be upon him) about it, and he said to us: Verily you do it, verily you do it, verily you do it, but the soul which has to be born until the Day of judg- ment must be born.

"Ibn Abbas said, in question with this verse, that the Muslims from Medina had previously practiced a type of sexual relationship between husband and wife which they had learned from the Jews, in which the husband honours his wife with respect. When the Muslims from Mecca arrived, they brought a different standard of behaviour with them. This created a severe tension in the Islamic community. Muhammad answered it with the above verse and allowed men to behave as they wished. He allowed his followers anything that would satisfy their beastly lusts. (The full text of this hadith is not translated out of spiritual reservations).
"Ibn Abbas said: ‘Umar came to Muhammad and said: "I have perished." "Why?" Muhammad asked. ‘It is because I have altered the normal position of sex tonight."’ He meant to say that he had sexual intercourse away from his usual place. At first, Muhammad gave no reply, then he claimed that Allah gave him license. Muhammad and Umar were shameless and immodest. Muhammad should have guided Umar to God’s holiness and purity.
"Al-Bukhari narrated after Ibn Umar that al-Baqara 2:223 was revealed on the issue of having anal intercourse with women. Al-Tabarani narrated in Al-Aswat, with a reliable chain of traditions, that ‘Your women are a tillage for you’ was only revealed to license anal intercourse (Asbab al-Nuzul by al-Suyuti on Sura al-Baqara 2:223)." Others said, "Rather, it means that you may have intercourse whenever you want and in whatever manner you want." Of those who narrated this:
It was narrated Yakub, Narrated by Hushaim, narrated by Ibn A’wn, narrated by Nafi’ who related that whenever Ibn Umar read the Quran he would not speak, but one day I read the verse, "Your wives are as a tilth unto you: so approach your tilth when or how you will" (Sura 2:223). So he said, "Do you know about whom this verse was revealed?" I replied, "No." He said, "This verse was revealed about PENETRATING WOMEN IN THEIR ANUS."
It was narrated by Ibrahim Ibn Abdullah Ibn Muslim Abu Muslim, narrated by Abu Umar Al Dariri, narrated by Ismail Ibn Ibrahim (owner of) Al Karabisi, narrated by Ibn A’wn, narrated by Nafi’ who said, "I used to (inquire) from Ibn Umar whenever he read the verse in the Quran, ‘Your wives are as a tilth unto you: so approach your tilth when or how you will’ (Sura 2:223), he would say, ‘Meaning to have intercourse with women IN THEIR ANUS."
It was narrated by Abdel Rahman Ibn Abdullah Ibn Abdel Hakam, narrated by Abdel Malik Ibn Maslama, narrated by Al Darawardi who stated that it was related to Zaid Ibn Aslam that Muhammad Ibn Al Munkadir used to forbid penetrating women through their anus so Zaid responded, "I bear witness against Muhammad that he informed me that he performed this."
It was related about Al Harith Ibn Yakub that he narrated about Abi Al Habab Sa’id Ibn Yassar that he asked Ibn Umar and said, "O Abu Abdul Rahman! We buy slave girls, so may we commit ‘Nahmid’ with them?" So he replied, "And what is this ‘Nahmid’?" He responded, "(penetrating) the ANUS." Ibn Umar said, "Wow, Wow! Does a believer do that?"
It was narrated by Abu Kilaba, narrated by Abdel Samad, who said that it was narrated by his father who narrated from Ayub, narrated from Nafi’, narrated by Ibn Umar who said that (Sura 2:223), ‘Your wives are as a tilth unto you: so approach your tilth when or how you will,’ WAS REGARDING THE ANUS. (AL TABARI)

The Caliph 'Amru Bin al-'Aas said:
"Women are toys, so choose." (Kanz-el-'Ummal, Vol. 21, Hadith No. 919)

YUSUFALI: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first),(Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

The people came out for their jobs and some of them said, 'Muhammad (has come).' (Some of our companions added, "With his army.") We conquered Khaibar, took the captives, and the booty was collected. Dihya came and said, 'O Allah's Prophet! Give me a slave girl from the captives.' The Prophet said, 'Go and take any slave girl.' He took Safiya bint Huyai. A man came to the Prophet and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! You gave Safiya bint Huyai to Dihya and she is the chief mistress of the tribes of Quraiza and An-Nadir and she befits none but you.' So the Prophet said, 'Bring him along with her.' So Dihya came with her and when the Prophet saw her, he said to Dihya, 'Take any slave girl other than her from the captives.' Anas added: The Prophet then manumitted her and married her."
Thabit asked Anas, "O Abu Hamza! What did the Prophet pay her (as Mahr)?" He said, "Her self was her Mahr for he manumitted her and then married her." Anas added, "While on the way, Um Sulaim dressed her for marriage (ceremony) and at night she sent her as a bride to the Prophet . So the Prophet was a bridegroom and he said, 'Whoever has anything (food) should bring it.' He spread out a leather sheet (for the food) and some brought dates and others cooking butter. (I think he (Anas) mentioned As-Sawaq). So they prepared a dish of Hais (a kind of meal). And that was Walima (the marriage banquet) of Allah's Apostle ." Bukhari, volume 1 #367
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet came to Khaibar and when Allah made him victorious and he conquered the town by breaking the enemy's defense, the beauty of Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtab was mentioned to him and her husband had been killed while she was a bride. Allah's Apostle selected her for himself and he set out in her company till he reached Sadd-ar-Rawha' where her menses were over and he married her. … Bukhari, volume 3 #437

The Prophet asked (him), "How much of the Quran do you know (by heart)?" He said, "So much and so much." The Prophet said, "I have married her to you for what you know of the Quran."

Salama bin Al-Akwa' said: Allah's Apostle's said, "If a man and a woman agree (to marry temporarily), their marriage should last for three nights, and if they like to continue, they can do so; and if they want to separate, they can do so." I do not know whether that was only for us or for all the people in general. Abu Abdullah (Al-Bukhari) said: 'Ali made it clear that the Prophet said, "The Mut'a marriage has been cancelled (made unlawful)."

Khaula bint Hakim was one of those ladies who presented themselves to the Prophet for marriage. 'Aisha said, "Doesn't a lady feel ashamed for presenting herself to a man?" But when the Verse: "(O Muhammad) You may postpone (the turn of) any of them (your wives) that you please,' (33.51) was revealed, " 'Aisha said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I do not see, but, that your Lord hurries in pleasing you.' "

The Prophet said, "But that is not lawful for me (i.e., to be married to two sisters at a time.)" I said, "O Allah's Apostle! By Allah, we have heard that you want to marry Durra, the daughter of Abu Salama." He said, "You mean the daughter of Um Salama?" I said, "Yes." He said, "By Allah ! Even if she were not my stepdaughter, she would not be lawful for me to marry, for she is my foster niece, for Thuwaiba has suckled me and Abu Salama; so you should neither present your daughters, nor your sisters to me."

He looked at her carefully and fixed his glance on her and then lowered his head. When the lady saw that he did not say anything, she sat down. A man from his companions got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! If you are not in need of her, then marry her to me." The Prophet said, "Have you got anything to offer?" The man said, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet said (to him), "Go to your family and see if you have something." The man went and returned, saying, "No, by Allah, I have not found anything." Allah's Apostle said, "(Go again) and look for something, even if it is an iron ring." He went again and returned, saying, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Apostle! I could not find even an iron ring, but this is my Izar (waist sheet)." He had no rida. He added, "I give half of it to her." Allah's Apostle said, "What will she do with your Izar? If you wear it, she will be naked, and if she wears it, you will be naked." So that man sat down for a long while and then got up (to depart). When Allah's Apostle saw him going, he ordered that he be called back. When he came, the Prophet said, "How much of the Quran do you know?" He said, "I know such Sura and such Sura," counting them. The Prophet said, "Do you know them by heart?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Go, I marry her to you for that much of the Quran which you have."

' A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Sahla bint Suhail came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be eupon him) and said: Messengerof Allah, I see on the face of Abu Hudhaifa (signs of disgust) on entering of Salim (who is an ally) into (our house),whereupon Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: Suckle him. She said: How can I suckle him as he is a grown-up man? Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) smiled and said: I already know that he is a young man 'Amr has made this addition in his narration that he participated in the Battle of Badr and in the narration of Ibn 'Umar (the words are): Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) laughed.
Book 008, Number 3425:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hadhaifa, lived with him and his family in their house. She (i. e. the daughter of Suhail came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and said: Salim has attained (purbety) as men attain, and he understands what they understand, and he enters our house freely, I, however, perceive that something (rankles) in the heart of Abu Hudhaifa, whereupon Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said to her: Suckle him and you would become unlawful for him, and (the rankling) which Abu Hudhaifa feels in his heart will disappear. She returned and said: So I suckled him, and what (was there) in the heart of Abu Hudhaifa disappeared.

Rasul Allah (62 tahun) menikahi Mulaykah. Dia masih muda dan cantil. Salah seroang istri Nabi datang padanya dan berkata, “Kamu tidak malu menikah dengan lelaki yang membunuh ayahmu waktu dia menaklukkan Mekka?” Dia lalu mencari perlindungan terhadap dia (Muhammad).

Hai Nabi, mengapa kamu mengharamkan apa yang Allah menghalalkannya bagimu; kamu mencari kesenangan hati istri-istrimu?

Dihyah sebelumnya telah meminta Safiyah pada Rasul ketika Rasul memilih dia (Safiyah) untuk dirinya sendiri. Muhammad memberi Dihyah kedua sepupu Safiyah sebagai gantinya.

Ketika dia protest, menginginkan Safiyah untuk dirinya sendiri, Rasul menukarkan Safiyah dengan memberi Dihyah dua saudara sepupunya. Perempuan-perempuan dari Khaybar dibagi-bagikan di antara para Muslim.

Muslim-muslim berkata di antara mereka, “Akankah Safiyah menjadi salah satu istri Nabi ataukah Cuma seorang wanita tawanan dan salah satu miliknya?”

Ketika kami mencapai Khaybar, Muhamamd berkata bahwa Allah membuat dia bisa menaklukkan mereka. Saat itulah kecantikan Safiyah digambarkan kepadanya. Suaminya telah dibunuh (oleh Muhammad), jadi Rasul Allah memilihnya untuk dirinya sendiri. Dia membawanya bersama dia hingga kami tiba di satu tempat di mana haidnya selesai dan dia memperistrikannya, menyetubuhinya, dan memaksanya memakai cadar.”

Muhammad memerintahkan bahwa Safiya harus ditempatkan di belakangnya dan dia menebarkan jubahnya padanya. Jadi muslim-mulsim tahu bahwa dia (Muhammad) telah memilihnya untuk dirinya sendiri.
Ketika Rasul membawa Safiya dalam perjalanannya keluar kota, dia dirias dan disisir rambutnya, membuatnya pantas untuk Nabi. Rasul menghabiskan malam itu dengannya di tendanya. Abu Ayyub, didampingi pedangnya, menjaga Rasul, mengelilingi tenda hingga dia melihatnya keluar di pagi hari. Abu berkata, “Aku sangat khawatir tentang kamu akan wanita ini karena engkau telah membunuh ayahnya, suaminya dan kaumnya.”
Qur’an 33:30 Hai istri-istri Nabi, siapa-siapa di antaramu yang mengerjakan perbuatan keji yang nyata, niscaya akan dilipat gandakan siksaan kepada mereka dua kali lipat. Dan adalah yang demikian itu mudah bagi Allah.

Rasul Allah menikahi lima belas wanita. Dia menggabungkan tujuh pada satu saat dan meninggalkan sembilang.

Nabi melihat Ummu’l ketika dia masih seorang bayi yang merangkak di kakinya dan berkata, “Jika dia tumbuh dewasa, aku akan mengawininya.” Tetapi dia mati sebelum bisa melakukannya.

Nabi menikahi Aisha di Mekka tiga tahun sebelum Hijrah, setelah kematian Khadija. Saat itu dia berumur enam tahun. Ishaq:281: Ketika Rasul datang ke Medina dia berumur lima puluh tiga.

Aku datang menawarkan diriku padamu.” Dia menjawab, “Aku terima.” [Layla menceritakan hal ini pada orang tuanya.] Mereka berkata, “Hal yang sangat buruk yang telah engkau lakukan. Kamu gadis terhormat, tetapi Nabi adalah seorang mata keranjang.”

Aku ikut dalam penyerbuan Ghazwa dengan Rasul. Aku berkata, “Nabi, aku seorang mempelai lelaki.” Dia bertanya apakah aku menikahi seorang perawan atau seorang janda. Aku jawab, “Seorang janda.” Dia berkata, “Mengapa tidak perawan saja yang bisa bermain denganmu? Lalu kamu bisa bermain dengannya.” “Nabi! Ayahku dibunuh dan aku punya beberapa adik perempuan muda, jadi aku merasa tidak pantas menikhai seorang gadis muda semuda mereka.”

Rasul mengutus Hatib menghadap Muqawqis, penguasa Alexandria. Hatib menyampaikan surat dari Nabi, dan Muqawqis memberi Rasul Allah empat budak perempuan.

Umar berkata, “Ketika anak perempuanku Hafsa kehilangan suaminya dalam perang Badr, Rasul Allah melamarnya dan aku menikahkan dia kepadanya.”

Dalam tahun ini Nabi menikahi Zaynab Bt. Jahsh. Rasul Allah pergi ke rumah Zayd bin (anak dari) Muhammad. Mungkin Nabi rindu padanya waktu itu. Zaynab, istri Zayd, bangkit untuk menjumpainya. Dia hanya memakai baju dalam… Dia meloncat penuh hasrat, dan membangkitkan kekaguman Rasul Allah, lalu dia menoleh sambill menggumamkan sesuatu yang hampir tidak bisa dimengerti. Namun, dia ada mengatakan secara terang-terangan, “Terpujilah Allah yang Maha Kuasa, yang menyebabkan hati tergerak!” Lalu Zayd pergi menghadap Muhammad. “Nabi, Aku dengar engkau datang ke rumahku. Mengapa engkau tidak masuk? Mungkin Zaynab membangkitkan kekagumanmu, aku akan meninggalkannya.”

Suatu hari Muhammad pergi mencari Zayd. Ada satu penutup kain di atas lubang pintu, tetapi angin mengingkapkan tirai itu sehingga lubang pintu terbuka. Zaynab berada di kamarnya, telanjang, dan kekaguman terhadapnya memasuki hati Nabi. Setalah itu Allah membuatnya tidak menarik bagi Zayd.
Tabari VIII:3
Zayd meninggalkannya, dan dia menjadi bebas. Ketika Rasul Allah berbincang dengan Aisha, dia pingsan. Ketika sadar kembali, dia tersenyum dan berkata, “Siapa yang akan pergi kepada Zaynab untuk memberitahu dia berita baik? Allah telah menikahkan dia padaku.” Lalu Nabi membaca ayat Quran 33 hingga akhirnya. Aisha berkata, “Aku menjadi gelisah karena apa yang telah kami dengar tentang kecantikannya dan satu hal lagi, yang paling berat, yang telah Allah lakukan baginya dengan mengawinkannya sendiri kepadanya (Muhammad). Aku bilang dia pasti akan membanggakan hal itu kepada kami.”
Qur’an 33:4
Allah tidak menjadikan istri-istrimu yang kamu zhihar itu sebagai ibumu, dan Dia tidak menjadikan anak-anak angkatmu sebagai anak kandungmu (sendiri).
Qur’an 33:6
Nabi itu (hendaknya) lebih utama bagi orang-orang mukmin dari diri mereka sendiri dan istri-istrinya adalah ibu-ibu mereka. …. Adalah yang demikian itu telah tertulis di dalam Kitab (Allah).

… kamu menyembunyikan di dalam hatimu apa yang Allah akan menyatakannya, dan kamu takut kepada manusia, sedang Allah-lah yang lebih berhak untuk kamu takuti. Maka tatkala Zaid telah mengakhiri keperluan terhadap istrinya (menceraikannya), Kami kawinkan kamu dengan dia supaya tidak ada keberatan bagi orang mukmin untuk (mengawini) istri-istri anak-anak angkat mereka, apabila anak-anak angkat itu telah menyelesaikan keperluannya daripada istrinya. Dan adalah ketetapan Allah itu pasti terjadi.
Qur’an 33:38
Tidak ada suatu keberatan pun atas Nabi tentang apa yang telah ditetapkan Allah baginya. (Allah telah menetapkan yang demikian) sebagai sunnah-Nya pada nabi-nabi yang telah berlalu dahulu. Dan adalah ketetapan Allah itu suatu ketetapan yang pasti berlaku,

Hai Nabi, sesungguhnya Kami telah menghalalkan bagimu istri-istrimu yang telah kamu berikan mas kawinnya dan hamba sahaya yang kamu miliki yang termasuk apa yang kamu peroleh dalam peperangan yang dikaruniakan Allah untukmu, dan (demikian pula) anak-anak perempuan dari saudara laki-laki bapakmu, anak-anak perempuan dari saudara perempuan bapakmu, anak-anak perempuan dari saudara laki-laki ibumu dan anak-anak perempuan dari saudara perempuan ibumu yang turut hijrah bersama kamu dan perempuan mukmin yang menyerahkan dirinya kepada Nabi kalau Nabi mau mengawininya, sebagai pengkhususan bagimu, bukan untuk semua orang mukmin. Sesungguhnya Kami telah mengetahui apa yang Kami wajibkan kepada mereka tentang istri-istri mereka dan hamba sahaya yang mereka miliki supaya tidak menjadi kesempitan bagimu.

Kisah percintaan dan nafsu yang melibatkan ketiga insan ini sungguh merupakan salah satu romantika cinta yang luar biasa. Zaid dan beberapa pemuda lainnya baru saja dibeli dengan harga mahal dari Ukaz oleh keponakan Khadijah …Sambil berdiri di Hijr, dengan lantang, ia (Muhamamd) berkata, “Wahai semua yang hadir! Saksikanlah, bahwa Zaid adalah anakku ….” …. Sejak hari itu, pendatang baru bagi bani Hasyim di Mekah dikenal sebagai Zaid bin Muhammad.

Kami tidak terbiasa memanggil Zaid bin Haritha, budak yang dibebaskan oleh Rasulullah melainkan memanggil dengan Zaid bin Muhammad hingga ayat Al-Qur’an diwahyukan …..

Haekal mengatakan bahwa ada kolaborasi antara Allah SWT dengan Muhammad dalam menjodohkan Zainab dengan Zaid, bahkan sampai turun ayatnya dari Allah SWT untuk menikahkan Zainab dengan Zaid DIBAWAH ANCAMAN SEGALA.

"Bagi laki-laki dan wanita yang beriman, BILAMANA ALLAH DAN RASULNYA TELAH MENETAPKAN suatu ketentuan, mereka tidak boleh mengambil kemauan sendiri dalam urusan mereka itu. Dan barangsiapa TIDAK MEMATUHI ALLAH DAN RASULNYA, mereka telah melakukan KESESATAN YANG NYATA SEKALI." (Qur'an, 33:36)
Setelah turun ayat ini tak ada jalan lain buat Abdullah dan Zainab saudaranya, selain harus tunduk menerima. "Kami menerima, Rasulullah," kata mereka. Lalu ZAID DIKAWINKAN KEPADA ZAINAB setelah mas-kawinnya oleh Nabi disampaikan.
III. PRAHARA PERNIKAHAN
Uniknya setelah Zainab dan Zaid MENURUTI ketentuan pernikahan yang diatur oleh Allah SWT dan Muhammad, ternyata BUKANNYA KEBAHAGIAAN yang mereka peroleh namun JUSTRU KESESATAN YANG NYATA sekali yaitu perselisihan yang tidak henti-hentinya.

Dan sesudah Zainab menjadi isteri, ternyata ia tidak mudah dikendalikan DAN TIDAK MAU TUNDUK. MALAH IA BANYAK MENGGANGGU ZAID. Ia membanggakan diri kepadanya dari segi keturunan dan bahwa dia katanya tidak mau ditundukkan oleh seorang budak.
Sikap Zainab yang tidak baik kepadanya itu tidak jarang oleh Zaid diadukan kepada Nabi, dan bukan sekali saja ia meminta ijin kepadanya hendak menceraikannya. Tetapi Nabi menjawabnya: "Jaga baik-baik isterimu, jangan diceraikan.Hendaklah engkau takut kepada Allah."
IV. PERTEMUAN MUHAMMAD DENGAN ZAINAB
Karena prahara sudah sedemikian rupa, maka harus ada jalan untuk mengakhiri pernikahan tersebut. Langkah awal pemutusan pernikahan adalah diawali dengan bertamunya Muhammad ke rumah Zaid dan ternyata hanya menjumpai Zainab.

Suatu hari, nabi pergi kerumah Zaid untuk membicarakan satu masalah. Ketika beliau datang, Zaid sedang tidak dirumah. Zainab, karena tidak menyangka akan ada tamu diwaktu-waktu tersebut, sedang BERPAKAIAN SEADANYA. ….. Zainab lari kepintu tanpa mengenakan alas kaki untuk mempersilahkan nabi masuk dan menunggu hingga suaminya kembali. …. Saat Zainab berdiri dipintu, ia tampak berseri-seri dan riang gembira, danNABI KAGUM OLEH KECANTIKANNYA. Beliau cepat berbalik dan pergi sambil menggumankan kata-kata yang tak terdengar oleh Zainab. Kata-kata yang sempat didengarnya hanyalah sebuah pujian kekaguman : “Mahaagung Allah, Mahaagung. Dia yang menguasai hati manusia”
Dalam hal ini, Lings mengutip dari Kitab Al Tabaqat Al Kabir karya Muhammad ibn Sa’d.
V. MUHAMMAD MULAI JATUH CINTA KEPADA ZAINAB
Tidaklah jelas kapan Muhammad mulai jatuh cinta kepada Zainab. Haekal bahkan menolak kalau Muhamamd jatuh cinta dengan Zainab.

Untuk menghapuskan semua cerita mereka yang kita baca itu dari dasarnya, cukup kalau kita sebutkan, bahwa Zainab bt. Jahsy ini adalah puteri Umaima bt. Abd'l-Muttalib, bibi Rasulullah a.s. Ia dibesarkan di bawah asuhannya sendiri dan dengan bantuannya pula. Maka dengan demikian ia sudah seperti puterinya atau seperti adiknya sendiri. Ia sudah mengenal Zainab dan mengetahui benar apakah dia cantik atau tidak, sebelum ia dikawinkan dengan Zaid. Ia sudah melihatnya sejak dari mula pertumbuhannya, sebagai bayi yang masih merangkak hingga menjelang gadis remaja dan dewasa, dan dia juga yang melamarnya buat Zaid bekas budaknya itu.
Namun pandangan Haekal ini bertabrakan dengan dua kitab tafsir terbesar dalam khazanah Islam yaitu Tafsir Al-Jalalayn dan Tafsir Zamakhshari menuliskan bahwa MUHAMMAD MEMANG JATUH CINTA KEPADA ZAINAB segera setelah Zainab menikah dengan Zaid.

The Prophet’s love for Zaynab arose later, and the time and circumstances of its incidence are diversely reported. The account in the Tafsir al-Jalalayn suggests that his attitude began to change soon after her marriage to Zayd. "After a time (probably meaning a short time) his eye fell on her, and love for Zaynab budded in his heart.
Cinta Rasulullah terhadap Zainab timbul kemudian, waktu dan kejadiannya dilaporkan secara berbeda. Laporan dalam Tafsir Al-Jalalayn mengindikasikan bahwa sikap Muhammad berubahSEGERA SETELAH PERNIKAHAN Zainab dengan Zaid. “Setelah waktu yang pendek, mata Muhammad memandang Zainab, DAN CINTA KEPADA ZAINAB BERSEMI DIHATI MUHAMMAD.
Zamakhshari, in his comment on verse 37 sura 33, states that it was after Zaynab’s marriage to Zayd that the Prophet’s eye fell on her. She pleased him so much that he could not help saying, "Praise be to God who makes hearts beat!" The Prophet had seen Zaynab before but she had not then pleased him; otherwise he would have asked for her hand. Zaynab heard the Prophet’s exclamation and told Zayd about it. Zayd knew intuitively that God had cast an unease with Zaynab into his heart. He therefore went in haste to the Prophet and asked whether he might divorce his wife. The Prophet asked what had happened and whether he suspected her. Zayd replied that he had met with nothing but kindness from her, but was distressed because she considered herself more noble than himself and more suitable for the Prophet. It was then that the words "Keep your wife for yourself and fear God" in verse 37 came down. (Ref. 7, page 132-133)
Zamakhshari dalam komentarnya terhadap QS 33 : 37, menyatakan bahwa SETELAH PERNIKAHAN Zainab dan Zaidlah, mata Muhamamd memandang Zainab. ZAINAB SANGAT MENYENANGKAN BAGI MUHAMMAD hingga dia tidak bisa menahan untuk berkata, “Terpujilah Tuhan yang membuat hati berdebar” Rasulullah telah pernah melihat Zainab sebelumnya, tetapi tidak pernah menyenangkan seperti sekarang ini ; jika tidak Rasulullah sudah pasti akan memintanya. ….
Jadi Muhammad jatuh cinta kepada istri anak angkatnya. Luar biasa juga. Yang dikatakan sebagai nabi terakhir ternyata menutup kenabian dengan melanggar perintah Tuhan dalam Taurat yang berikut :
Keluaran 20 : 17 :
Jangan mengingini rumah sesamamu; JANGAN MENGINGINI ISTERINYA, atau hambanya laki-laki, atau hambanya perempuan, atau lembunya atau keledainya, atau apapun yang dipunyai sesamamu."
Ironis adalah, karena selama ini muslim mencemooh kisah Raja Daud yang jatuh dalam dosa sebagai kebohongan dalam Alkitab. Menurut muslim, nabi tidak berdosa. Sebagai contoh posting di FFI yang lama oleh Rasul Petrus.

TUHAN MELEGALKAN PERZINAHAN?
a. Solomo anak hasil zina
Ketika Daud sedang bangun sore melihat seorang wanita yang sedang mandi nan elok rupanya. Wanita bernama Batsjeba binti Eliam ISTERI URIA orang Het (Samuel II 11: 2-4)
“Sesudah itu Daud menyuruh orang mengambil dia. Perempuan itu datang kepadanya (Daud), lalu DAUD TIDUR dengan dia.... Lalu mengandunglah perempuan itu dan disuruhnya orang memberitahukan kepada Daud, demikian: Aku mengandung” (Samuel II 11:2-6)”
“Kemudian Daud menghibur hati Batsyeba, isterinya; ia menghampiri perempuan itu dan tidur dengan dia dan perempuan melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki,lalu Daud memberi nama Salomo kepada anak itu (Samuel II 12:25)
Hal tersebut tidak benar, sebab Daud dan Sulaiman adalah orang suci yang akhlaknya tidak seburuk yang digambarkan Alkitab, hal ini ditegaskan oleh Al Quran:
Maka Kami ampuni baginya (Daud) kesalahanya itu. Dan sesungguhnya dia mempunyai kedudukan dekat pada sisi Kami dan tempat kembali yang baik; (QS 38: 25)”
Jadi bagaimana dengan perbuatan Muhammad diatas yang jelas-jelas melanggar hukum Taurat?? Atau memang akhlak Muhammad tidak sebaik raja Daud??.
VI. PERCERAIAN
Peristiwa pertemuan Muhammad dengan Zainab yang sangat menggetarkan hati Muhammad itu diceritakan oleh Zainab kepada Zaid. Dan sebagai anak angkat yang baik hati tidak banyak pilihan bagi Zaid kecuali menemui sang ayah angkat sekaligus pemimpin Islam yaitu Muhammad dan menawarkan untuk menceraikan Zainab.Namun Muhammad masih jaga gengsi, dan menasehati Zaid untuk menjaga pernikahannya.

Zainab merasa bangga terhadap dirinya dan apa yang didengarnya itu diberitahukannya kepada Zaid. Langsung waktu itu juga Zaid menemui Nabi dan mengatakan bahwa IA BERSEDIA MENCERAIKANNYA. Lalu kata Nabi kepadanya:
"Jaga baik-baik isterimu, jangan diceraikan. Hendaklah engkau takut kepada Allah."
Tetapi pergaulan Zainab dengan Zaid sudah tidak baik iagi.Kemudian IA DICERAI.
Jadi setelah dipaksa menikah dengan ancaman Muhammad dan Aulloh SWT, pernikahan ini harus diakhiri dengan perceraian.
Sungguh menggelikan, karena perceraian adalah sesuatu yang sangat dibenci Aulloh SWT.

Tidak setiap perceraian itu dibolehkan dalam Islam, karena ada talak yang dimakruhkan, bahkan diharamkan. Karena hal itu dapat merobohkan bangunan rumah tangga yang sangat ditekankan Islam agar kita membina dan membangunnya. Oleh karena itu Rasulullah SAW bersabda, "PERKARA HALAL YANG PALING DIBENCI OLEH ALLAH ADALAH PERCERAIAN."

AULLOH SWT DAN MUHAMMAD MERANCANG SESUATU YANG SANGAT DIBENCI AULLOH SWT.
VII. PERNIKAHAN MUHAMMAD DAN ZAINAB
Setelah hatinya tergerak oleh kecantikan Zainab yang berbusana “ala kadarnya”. Hati Muhammad gelisah. Apalagi saat itu Zainab sudah dicerai oleh Zaid. Jadi terbukalah jalan untuk menikahinya. Namun masih ada hambatan karena tradisi Arab adalah menganggap anak angkat sama seperti anak kandung sehingga untuk menikahi mantan istri anak angkat adalah sesuatu yang tabu.
Namun penantian Muhammad tidak perlu berlama-lama, muncullah lagi wahyu yang menyelamatkannya.

Bulan demi bulan berlalu. Suatu hari, disaat nabi sedang bercakap-cakap dengan salah satu istrinya, suatu kekuatan wahyu menyelimuti dirinya. Ketika pulih, kata-kata pertama yang beliau ucapkan adalah, “Siapa yang akan pergi kerumah ZAINAB DAN MENYAMPAIKAN BERITA DARI LANGIT BAHWA ALLAH TELAH MENIKAHKAN DIA DENGANKU?”

Muhammad menahan diri tidak segera mengawininya sekalipun hatinya gelisah. Ketika itu firman Tuhan datang :
Al Quran 33:37
Dan (ingatlah), ketika kamu berkata kepada orang yang Allah telah melimpahkan nikmat kepadanya dan kamu (juga) telah memberi nikmat kepadanya: "Tahanlah terus isterimu dan bertaqwalah kepada Allah ", sedang kamu menyembunyikan di dalam hatimu apa yang ALLAH AKAN MENYATAKANNYA, dan kamu takut kepada manusia, sedang Allah -lah yang lebih berhak untuk kamu takuti. Maka tatkala Zaid telah mengakhiri keperluan terhadap isterinya (menceraikannya), KAMI KAWINKAN KAMU DENGAN DIA supaya tidak ada keberatan bagi orang mukmin untuk (mengawini) isteri-isteri anak-anak angkat mereka, apabila anak-anak angkat itu telah menyelesaikan keperluannya daripada isterinya. Dan adalah KETETAPAN ALLAH ITU PASTI TERJADI.
Jadi saat kepepet mau menikahi Zainab, segeralah Aulloh SWT menolong rasulNya.
Makanya tidaklah mengherankan jika Aisyah sendiri merasa heran kenapa Aulloh SWT senantiasa memberikan yang enak-enak buat Muhammad.

Narrated Aisha:
I used to look down upon those ladies who had given themselves to Allah's Apostle and I used to say, "Can a lady give herself (to a man)?" But when Allah revealed: "You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive any of them whom you will; and there is no blame on you if you invite one whose turn you have set aside (temporarily)." (33.51) I said (to the Prophet), "I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires."
Aku biasa memandang rendah kepada wanita-wanita yang bersedia menyerahkan dirinya kepada Rasulullah dan aku berkata, “Bisakah seorang wanita menyerahkan dirinya kepada seorang laki-laki?”. Tetapi ketika Aulloh berfirman, “Kamu boleh menangguhkan menggauli siapa yang kamu kehendaki diantara mereka (isteri-isterimu) dan (boleh pula) menggauli siapa yang kamu kehendaki. Dan siapa-siapa yang kamu ingini untuk menggaulinya kembali dari perempuan yang telah kamu cerai, maka tidak ada dosa bagimu (33 : 51)”. Aku berkata (kepada Rasulullah), “AKU MERASA BAHWA TUHANMU SELALU CEPAT-CEPAT MEMENUHI PERMOHONAN DAN KEINGINANMU”
VIII. ZAID BIN MUHAMMAD MENJADI ZAID BIN HARITHA
Tampaknya sekalipun sudah mendapat wahyu ilahi untuk menikahi mantan istri anak angkat dan telah memboyong Zainab sebagai istrinya yang sah, Muhamamd masih belum merasa nyaman. Tampaknya karena orang-orang masih memanggil sang anak angkat dengan Zaid bin Muhammad, sementara Muhammad sendiri menikahi janda dari Zaid bin Muhammad. Akibatnya harus turunlah ayat yang menyatakan anak angkat dibedakan dengan anak kandung. Dan, sim salabim, muncullah lagi ayat yang menyelamatkan Muhammad, yaitu :
QS 33 : 4 :
Allah sekali-kali tidak menjadikan bagi seseorang dua buah hati dalam rongganya; dan Dia tidak menjadikan istri-istrimu yang kamu zhihar [1199] itu sebagai ibumu, dan Dia tidak menjadikan anak-anak angkatmu sebagai anak kandungmu (sendiri). Yang demikian itu hanyalah perkataanmu dimulutmu saja. Dan Allah mengatakan yang sebenarnya dan Dia menunjukkan jalan (yang benar).
Dipertegas lagi dengan ayat berikut.
QS 33 : 40 :
Muhammad itu sekali-kali bukanlah bapak dari seorang laki-laki di antara kamu [1224],
Yang artinya :
[1224] Maksudnya: Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. bukanlah ayah dari salah seorang sahabat, karena itu janda Zaid dapat dikawini oleh Rasulullah s.a.w.
Namun, dapat dibayangkan bahwa orang-orang masih tetap berkata :
“Muhammad (bin Abdullah) menikahi janda Zaid bin Muhammad (bin Abdullah)”
Tentu saja tidak mengenakkan bagi Muhammad.
Jadi harus turun lagi wahyu yang menyelamatkannya. Dan lagi-lagi ala David Copperfield, muncullah wahyu yang menyelamatkannya.

Ayat berikutnya juga menyatakan bahwa untuk masa-masa berikutnya, seorang anak angkat harus menyertakan nama ayah kandungnya. Maka sejak itu Zaid dipanggil dengan nama Zaid bin Haritha sebagai pengganti ZAID BIN MUHAMMAD, NAMA YANG TELAH DISANDANGNYA SEJAK DIADOPSI NABI 35 TAHUN SILAM.
Dan ayat yang dimaksud adalah.
QS 33 : 5 :
Panggilah mereka (anak-anak angkat itu) dengan (memakai) nama bapak-bapak mereka; itulah yang lebih adil pada sisi Allah, ……..
Jadilah Zaid bin Muhammad berubah lagi menjadi Zaid bin Haritha.
Jadi omongan orang sebelumnya :
“Muhammad (bin Abdullah) menikahi janda Zaid bin Muhammad (bin Abdullah)”
berubah menjadi :
“Muhammad (bin Abdullah) menikahi janda Zaid bin Haritha”
Perubahan yang cukup memuaskan bagi Muhammad tentunya.
IX. PENUTUP
Mengikuti jalan cerita kisah diatas terlihat bagaimana carut marutnya kejadian-kejadian tersebut.
1.Muhammad dan Aulloh memaksa Zaid dan Zainab menikah dibawah ancaman “kesesatan nyata”
2.Zaid dan Zainab mematuhi perintah Muhammad dan Aulloh dan hasilnya malah “kesesatan nyata” karena pernikahan tidak bahagia dan berujung perceraian, perbuatan yang sangat dibenci oleh Aulloh SWT.
3.Kemudian Aulloh dan Muhammad ingin memberi suri tauladan bahwa menikahi janda anak angkat itu halal, akibatnya Muhammad harus menikah dengan Zainab.
4. Aulloh dalam QS 33 : 37 menyatakan telah menetapkan bahwa Muhammad harus menikah dengan Zainab, ketetapan ini sudah ada di Ummul Kitab. Dan karena Al-Qur’an sudah tertulis di Ummul Kitab (QS 13 : 39 : Allah menghapuskan apa yang Dia kehendaki dan menetapkan (apa yang Dia kehendaki), dan di sisi-Nya-lah terdapat Ummul-Kitab (Lauh mahfuzh)). Karenanya pernikahan Zaid dan Zainab hanyalah lelucon dari Aulloh saja, toh Aulloh sudah menetapkan di Ummul Kitab bahwa Muhammad akhirnya akan memperistri Zainab
Terlihatlah bagaimana muter-muternya alur cerita diatas.
Satu hal yang sangat mendasar adalah :
dalam masyarakat beradab manapun, jatuh cinta terhadap istri anak angkat dan kemudian menikahi mantan istri anak angkat tidaklah pantas dilakukan.
